We’re big fans of this superfood berry which comes from nutrient-rich soils of Amazon rainforest and is extremely popular in Peru and Brazil. We’re so fond of it we’ve included it in two of our SuperAge blends: Immunity and Energy.
Camu camu (Myrciaria dubia) is a small plum-like reddish purple fruit with a whitish fleshy centre. Natives use it as a natural medicine, and it’s a popular ingredient in ice creams, confectionary and beverages in South America.
The fresh fruit has a tart, tangy astringent taste, but is more commonly consumed in the form of a fine, dried powder, which helps to concentrate its’ nutritional power.
